You can set up custom replies on your own if you think Apple’s smart replies to Messages on the Apple Watch don’t include the right answer. Here are steps to set custom responses you can send from your wrist.
As the replated device to the iPhone, the Apple Watch offers most of the essential features that you need on daily route, without needing to pull the iPhone out of your pocket. Calls and messages are one of the features that can be used on the watch.
Given the limiting nature of managing your Apple Watch for text entry, you’ll likely end up using one of Apple’s default responses in situations where you have to respond quickly to text messages. It’s convenient, but what’s available is generic.
Sure, most of the smart replies which are related to greetings, give thanks and say you’re busy, and a variety of ways to say “yes” or “no are serviceable for most situations. However, it certainly doesn’t cover all situations.
Customized message replies
If there is no suitable reply on the list, it may be time to look into making your own custom response. One that handles that particular situation, has all the speed benefits of default replies and doesn’t force you to painstakingly deal with slow typing on your Apple Watch.
This is practical, such as direction (“left” or “right”), location (“living room” or “garage”), or command (“fill the dishwasher” or “I need toilet paper”), although you’re not only limited to constructive statements. You can also add greetings, words you often say, or even insults.
If it is a phrase you send in a text message often, then it will be the first perfect option to be added to the default replies list.
To set the message, all you need is the iPhone that’s linked to the Apple Watch.
